how does a bill become a law

A

Bill is introduced by house of representatives or senate. Committee review. Debate and vote. Bill goes to other house and repeats steps 1-3. Bill goes to conference committee to work out differences.
Bill goes to the president, two choices, either sign the law or veto. Congress can override with a ⅔ vote
