Impeachment
To get rid of the president; must be a “high crime or misdemeanor”
Extradition
To send a criminal back to where the crime was committed
Supremacy Clause
The constitution is supreme law of the land; federal government is supreme to state law
Treason
To go against your country
Ex Post Facto
After the fact; applies to actions done before the law is passed
“Elastic” Clause
“Necessary and Proper” clause- congress can make all laws “necessary and proper”
Bill of attainder
Punish a person without a trial
Enumerated powers
Listed powers each branch has; this limits the power of government
Republic
Government with a constitution that protects individual freedom
Commerce Clause
Expressed power that the federal government controls interstate trade in America
Habeas Corpus
Government must show just cause for holding a prisoner
