New Jersey Plan

3/5 Plan
Combining of the North beliefs and the South beliefs; counting each slave as 1 for taxation and representation and not counting any slaves for taxation or representation; each slave was counted as 3/5 of a person for taxation and representation purposes only
Popular Sovereignty/Consent of the Governed

Principle of government under which separate branches are empowered to prevent actions by other branches and are induced to share power
Separation of Powers
A state’s government is divided into branches, each with separate and independent powers and areas of responsibility so that the powers of one branch are not in conflict with the powers associated with the other branches
Federalism
Combining a central government (federal) with regional governments (state) in a single political system
