Amendment I
Freedom of religion freedom of speech freedom of press right of the people to assemble right to petition the government
Amendment II
the people maintain the right to keep and bear arms
Amendment III
No soldier, in time of peace, can be quartered in a person’s home without the owner’s consent
Amendment IV
Right of people to be secure in persons, houses, papers and effects;
Protection against unreasonable searches and seizures by the government;
Warrants must be based on PC, supported by oath of affirmation, describing with particularity the place to be searched and persons or things to be seized
Amendment V
Right against self incrimination;
Right against double jeopardy;
Right to due process of law;
Right against taking of private property without just compensation
Amendment VI
Right to speedy and public trial by impartial jury; Right to be informed of charges; Right to confront witnesses against them Right to have witnesses in their favor Right to assistance of counsel
Amendment VII
Right to jury trial for civil cases in federal courts (in case where value of the controversy exceeds $20)
Amendment VIII
Right against excessive bail or fines;
Right against cruel and unusual punishment
Amendment IX
Enumeration (list of) certain rights in the constitution shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;
Rights of the people are not necessarily limited to the rights specifically mentioned in the consitution
Amendment X
Any right/power not delegated in the constitution is to be decided by the state
Article 1
Legislative powers are given to congress of US, which is broken into a Senate and House of Representatives
Article 2
Executive powers are given to the president of the US
Article 3
Judicial power is given to the supreme court
