A
  • all public schools in England could become academies
  • Gove invited all schools to become an Academy - freeing them from local authority control
  • no longer targeted at only failing schools

  • due to wider cuts in public spending
  • September 2012 universities were allowed to charge up to £9000 per year
  • government will lend students the money for fees

  • greater control of how they operate - can rewrite national curriculum
  • improve education standards by taking control away from the state

  • Pupil Premium - money that the school receives for each pupil from a disadvantaged background
