Why do we try to conserve species?
A
- Animal rights - especially if humans are the cause of them being threatened
- Versus our own needs

When are the 2 times we could attempt to conserve?
A
- Reactive - conservation when species are on the verge of extinction e.g. hotspots - areas with high diversity and high threat
- Proactive - conserving areas with little damage e.g. high biodiversity wildlife areas (HBWA) - areas with high diversity that could be under threat in the future

How do we decide where to conserve?
A
Dependent upon goals and costs
Whether you want to do reactive or proactive

A
- Education - sustainable crops
- Finding alternatuve food sources
- Seasonal fishing restrictions
- Fishing boundaries/regions
- Fish farming
- Fishing methods
- Fencing off forest areas
