Conservation Flashcards
1
Q
What must be conserved during particle interactions?
A
Charge (Q)
Lepton Number (L)
Baryon number (B)
Strangeness - (sometimes)
2
Q
What is the lepton number?
A
All leptons have a lepton number,
Normal particles: +1
Anti-particles: -1
3
Q
What is the baryon number?
A
All baryons have a baryon number:
Normal baryons: +1
Anti-baryons: -1
Note: Mesons do NOT have a baryon number.
4
Q
How does the conservation of strangeness work?
A
Strangeness must be conserved within strong inertacions.
Strangeness can be conserved or +- 1 within weak interactions.
