-The war ended because the will to fight it on Britain’s part had gone.
-The City of London and parliament put pressure on the government to end the war as it was seen as being bad for trade.
-PM Lord North resigned in 1782. Fighting ended that same year.

-William Pitt. 1784 remained until 1801.
-PM Pitt was a mastermind of the next phase of the Anglo-French conflict which took place in the 1790s.
-Political power remained in the hands of the landed gentry and monarchy despite a flurry of agitation calling for a reform of the political system.
-1780, the British altered the mercantilist system in Ireland, which was causing protest, to allow Ireland to trade directly with British colonies.
-1782, the Irish were granted effective legislative independence as the British repealed the Declaratory Act 1719.
-People in Britain demanded for more rights such as the right to vote.
