Connective Tissue Flashcards
Adipose
Large vacuole in the center to store triglycerides, looks like honey comb
Loose reticular
Makes up frame work of non-hollow organs (spleen, liver) lymph, clean fluid
Dense irregular
Packed with fibers, run in all directions, wraps bone & cartilage
Dense regular
Very packed, all same direction, only strong in one direction (tendon&ligaments)
Dense elastic
Some give due to elastic fibers, respiratory pathways, blood vessels
Loose Areolar
Lots of space for blood vessels, very vascular, spaces in matrix can be used to take in extra fluids
Cartilage
Matrix is firm, avascular, no room for nerves
Hyaline cartilage
Toughest cartilage, wear & tear cartilage, connects ribs, nose-trachea
Fibrocartilage
Compression forces like a spring, forms disc of knee, intervertebral disc
Elastic cartilage
Because of elastic fibers it is able to return to its original shape after extreme bonding
Lamella
Ring of cells
Osteocyte
Bone cell
Lacunae
Little lake they live in
Canalicali
Tiny canals that carry nutrients from one lacunae to another
Haversian canal
Carries BV’s and nerves to the group of Lamella belonging to that group
