viscous, slippery substance
what are mast cells?
found near blood vessels, histamine, immune responses
what are reticular fibers?
support walls of vessels, organ frameworks, thin fibers, basement membrane
types of loose connective tissues…
areolar, adipose
definition of areolar tissue
subcutaneous, mucus membranes, around blood vessels (helps keep things in place)
definition of adipose tissue
fat, for triglyceride storage
what does reticular connective tissue do?
binds smooth muscle, liver, spleen and lymph nodes
what is regular dense connective tissue?
tendons, ligaments, aponeurosis, attachments
what is irregular dense connective tissue?
fascia, deep dermis, periosteum, joint/organ capsules
what is elastic connective tissue?
lung, arteries, bronchioles, vocal cords, ligaments, between vertebrae (supports upright spine position)
types of cartilage…
hyaline, fibrocartilage, elastic cartilage
where is hyaline cartilage found?
ends of long bones, ribs, nose, larynx, trachea
where is fibrocartilage found?
pubic symphysis, IVD, menisci
