connective tissue Flashcards
basic characteristics of the connective tissue
it gives a structural framework, acts as a packaging material b/w various organs, and links and supports other tissue, it’s the most abundant tissue
what does the connective tissue have that the blood doesn’t?
the connective tissue has cells that secrete fibres of proteins like collagen and elastin
basic components of connective tissue
matrix, cell, fibres
what does the matrix consist of and how is it formed?
it has mucopolysaccharides, glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid.
what are the cells found in connective tissue
mast cells, muccophage, plasma cells, adipocyte
what are the types of fibres and what do they consist of
white fibres (collagen), yellow fibres (elastin), reticular fibres ( reticulin)
connective tissue proper
it has two types loose and dense. loose has more matrix and fewer fibres while dense has less matrix and more fibres.
lose ct has areolar and adipose while dense has tendon and ligament

specialise connective tissue
skeletal ct has cartilage, bone and fluid ct has blood, lymph
