When can students become BACP members and work within an agency?
Students become BACP members upon completion of a Level 4 CPCAB course
What are the entry requirements for level 4?
You must have completed both CPCAB L2 and L3.

Do students need to take an exam for BACP membership after completing Level 4 with Astranti Connect?
The exam is included in Astranti Connect’s level 4 course
They will be signed up for an exam right at the end of the course. This is called the COP (Certificate of Proficiency) and once passed, they will be BACP members
How long does it take to complete the Level 2-4 fast track course?
2 years
Five months for levels 2 and 3 and around a year and a half for level 2.
How many in-person long weekends are on the level 4 residential course?
There are 7 in-person long weekends on the residential course
How many sessions are in a level 2/level 3 evening course?
26 sessions

What are the days and times for the level 4 residential course in-person long weekend sessions?
The sessions run from Thursday through to Monday.
The start and finish times are as follows:
Thursday: 10:00-20:15
Friday-Sunday: 08:30-20:00
Monday: 08:30-16:00
What counselling modalities are covered in Level 4?
Year 1 - person-centred
Year 2 - Gestalt, NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), CBT(cognitive behavioural therapy) and Psychodynamic
What is involved in the internal assessment at level 5?
The tutor will gain evidence by observing you demonstrating knowledge and skills as you undertake exercises and practical sessions.
You undertake a self-review of your own learning, write assignments and do a case presentation.
How many hours of counselling practice is required to join our level 6 course?
450 counselling practice hours
Do we offer the L3 courses in person?
Yes. L3 courses can be completed both in-person and online
How many hours do students need to complete their placements on the level 4 course?
100 hours.
Students need to complete 100 hours with a placement provider
Can students complete their level 4 placement online?
Not completely.
They can complete 49% of their placement online, and the remaining 51% needs to be completed face-to-face.
How many guided learning hours does the level 4 course contain?
420 guided learning hours
What are the methodologies taught in the level 4 course?
Primarily person-centred counselling but also covers elements of CBT, psychodynamic, Gestalt, NLP, COACHING and solution focused
What are the entry requirements for the level 2 courses?
Age: Students need to be at least 18 years old to enrol.
Personal Readiness: Since counselling studies involve self-reflection and emotional awareness, it’s recommended that students are in a suitable place mentally and emotionally to engage with the content.
English Language Proficiency: A reasonable level of English language skills is necessary, as the course involves written assignments and communication-based assessments.
What are the entry requirements for the level 3 courses?
Age: Students need to be at least 18 years old to enrol.
Qualifications: Fully completed a CPCAB L2 course (or equivalent)
What IS equivalent to a level 2 CPCAB course?
Certain other courses (e.g. most BACP courses) meet the minimum requirements:
● A minimum of 90 Guided Learning Hours (70 GLH or over can be accepted)
● Live-online OR classroom based
● Practical work was a major part of the course - with work in small group practice sessions throughout
What is NOT equivalent to a level 2 CPCAB course?
As a guide, the following types of qualifications don’t normally meet the required standard:
● Most university courses
● Most courses from NCFE CACHE, TQUK, SEG (Skills & Education Group), BTEC, ABC, Ofqual
How long does the residential course run for?
2 years
How many guided learning hours are there in the level 4 course?
There are 420 guided learning hours
How many guided learning hours are there on the fast track to level 4 course?
You get 90 from level 3 and 420 from level 4. Which is 510 in total
Can I work with child and young adult clients once I complete level 4?
No. The level 4 course is intended to qualify candidates to work with adults in an agency setting. It is important for candidates to work within their level of qualification
How many hours should I study outside of sessions on the fast track to level 4 course?
Between half a day and a full day per week. At the level 4 stage there will be a higher demand due to the placement. And when assignments need to be completed
How much of the level 4 placement can be completed over the phone or online?
Candidates should have no more than 49 hours of “remote work” countered towards the placement requirements. Remote work means online or phone.
Candidates can spend 49 or their 100 hours placements with online or phone clients
How many hours do students need to complete in-person with clients for their placements?
Students should complete at least 51 hours in-person hours with clients for their placements.
They can do up to 49 remote placement work. But no less than 51 hours in-person work

What does the L2 course teach?
The L2 course is based on CSK-L2 with CPCAB.
It teaches fundamental skills for becoming more supportive and empathetic. It introduces the Person-Centred approach and core principles such as ethics, boundaries and working within limits of proficiency.
The qualification is for:
- Those starting the first level of training as a professional counsellor
- Those who want to learn counselling skills in other professional or helping roles
- Those who want to improve their professional and personal relationships as part of personal development
What does the L3 course teach?
The L3 course is based on CST-L3 with CPCAB.
It starts to prepare students for work as a professional counsellor in an agency setting.
Continues the teachings of the person-centred approach and builds on the skills learned at L2 stage. It also introduces psychodynamic therapy and cognitive-behavioural therapy, allowing students to apply these theories to themselves.
They will learn about:
Setting boundaries, contracting with clients, conducting thorough assessments and making precise referrals.
This qualification is intended for candidates who have already acquired a recognised qualification in counselling skills and want to:
- take the next step in training to become a counsellor
- learn more about counselling theory, ethics and mental health
- be prepared for work as a professional counsellor in an agency setting
What does the L4 course teach?
The L4 course is based on TC-L4 with CPCAB.
It has over 400 in-person teaching hours on the course.
Continues with the person-centred approach pioneered by Carl Rogers. And teaches via experiential learning and reflective practice cultivating the foundational skills to establish authentic connections and foster genuine client-centred relationships.
Will be introduced to: CBT, Gestalt Therapy, NLP and psychodynamic therapy.
Once students finish this course, they’ll be fully qualified counsellors.
What does the L5 course teach?
The L5 course is based on PC-L5 with CPCAB.
There are 120 guided learning hours for this qualification.
Aims to give students the skills they need to be self-employed with their own practice.
Or prepares them for a senior role in an organisation, where they can evaluate, assess and refer clients.
Pre-requisites for this level are level 4 or equivalent.
What does the L6 course teach?
The L6 course is based on TCSU-L6 with CPCAB .
There are 90 guided learning hours for this qualification.
It teaches learners to become clinical supervisors.
What two study formats does Astranti offer for the Level 2 counselling course?
Online and classroom-based
Are the online sessions live or pre-recorded?
They are live, tutor-led Google meet sessions
How long does the Level 2 course typically take to complete?
Around 3 to 4 months, depending on the schedule chosen.
What materials do students get access to with Astranti?
They get access to the studyhub online via Astranti Connect’s website. The studyhub includes videos on topics as well as documents.
They will have all their course documents and assignments on Google Classroom
How many placement hours are required to complete the Level 4 course?
100 placement hours are required, with at least 51 being in-person. Up to 49 hours can be completed remotely (online or by phone).
Can students start Level 4 if they haven’t fully completed Level 3?
No. Students must have fully completed Level 3 (including all assignments and assessments) before enrolling on Level 4.
What platforms do students use to access their Astranti course content?
Students use Astranti Connect’s StudyHub for videos and learning materials, and Google Classroom for course documents, communication, and assignments.
What does “working within limits of proficiency” mean in counselling training?
It means only practising skills and offering support that a student is trained and qualified to provide, avoiding areas outside their competence or experience.
What is experiential learning in the context of the Level 4 course?
Experiential learning involves learning through doing. Students practise counselling techniques, reflect on their experiences, and gain deeper self-awareness through group work and exercises.
Is there any difference in the teaching format between the online and classroom Level 2 courses?
No, both formats are tutor-led and interactive. The online sessions are delivered live via Google Meet and follow the same structure as the in-person classes.
