What is Congress?
The legislative body of the government of the USA. It is bicameral and has a lower body (the House of Representatives) and an upper body (the Senate).
What does Bicameralism mean?
Where there are 2 separate chambers!
What is the House of Representatives?
The lower body of Congress. Combined with the Senate, they make the bicameral legislature known as Congress.
What is the Senate?
The upper body of Congress. Combined with the House of Representatives, they make the bicameral legislature known as Congress.
What is the definition of Oversight?
The congressional review of the activities of an executive agency, department or office - Mainly to do with funding and activities of the president, including impeachment.
What is the Committee System?
This consists of Congressional Committees, which are legislative sub-organisations in the US’ Congress that handles a specific issue, task or duty. Similar to the UK’s ‘Select Committees’.
