Potter Syndrome
Absence of kidneys so oligohydramnios
Unilateral Renal Hypoplasia/Agenesis
Contra one undergoes compensatory hypertrophy, can develop HTN/CKD/ESRD
PCKD Laterality
Always bilateral
ARPCKD Cysts
Perpindicular to cortex and elongated, so kidneys keep reniform shape
Medullary Sponge Kidney (what it is, problems, and sign)
Cysts along terminal CDs, usually asymptomatic but maybe nephrolithiasis (recurrent CaOx) or UTI
“Blush” or retention of contrast in dilated collecting ducts
Horseshoe Kidney Malignancy
Wilms’ tumor in isthmus
Congenital Mesoblastic Nephroma
Exclusively in newborns VERY young infants (later is Wilms), firm pale tumor treated by nephrectomy
