A
  • Fertile land and natural resources
  • Britain and France wanted to keep Italy as an ally
  • Italy had invaded Abyssinia in 1896 and was defeated, they wanted to restore national pride

A

The league of nations tried to stop Italy with a moral condemation, but Mussolini wasnt put off. Italy left the league in 1937. Britain and France were scared Italy would ally with hitler so made a secret pact (Hoare-Laval Pact) that gave Abyssinia off to Italy, but this got leaked to the press And Foreign minister and French counterpoint were forced to resign.
