To defend their country against attack
Gain land and territory, wealth and power
What is war?
War is a large-scale violent conflict
What does it mean by protection?
If a criminal has committed a violent act, and puts a threat to society, he is placed in prison to remove this threat
What is capital punishment?
Where a prisoner is put to death for crimes committed
What is retribution?
‘Eye for an eye’ in the Old Testament
It is saying that the punishment needs to be proportionately equal to the crime committed
Problems with just war theory

What does reconciliation mean?
Reconciliation is where two people/ groups have thought or disagreed with one another and have made up
Why are Christian responses to terrorism?
Leads to suffering and harm
