Q

What to right in the intro

A

‘A streetcar named desire’ by Tennessee Williams is a play which portrays conflict between protagonist Blanche Dubois and her arrogant brother-in-law Stanley kowalski. The play is centred around her visit to see her sister Stella in the New South. Throughout the play, it is clear Blanche and Stanley represent two different parts in society as Blanche is seen as a southern belle from the old south who has very wealthy views compared to Stanley who is a rough and rude polish man from the new south. William’s uses numerous techniques such as characterisation, lighting, costuming and dramatic climax to highlight Blanches and Stanley’s conflict between each other. Throughout the play we see the conflict between the two characters develop, ultimately resulting in destruction.
