What place does Confirmation have in the divine plan of salvation?
Confirmation is meant for all Christians, not just selected ones.
In the Latin rite, it is conferred once the candidate has reached the age of reason;
To receive this sacrament, a person needs previous instruction, a true intention and to be in the state of grace.
Why is this sacrament called Chrismation or Confirmation?
Chrismation ( eastern churches ) essential right of anointing with Chrism
Confirmation: confirms and strenghtens baptismal grace
What is the essential rite of Confirmation?
the anointing with Sacred Chrism/ which is done by the laying on of the hand of the minister who pronounces the sacramental words proper to the rite.
What is the effect of Confirmation?
a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit like that of Pentecost. ( impresses on the soul an indelible character and produces a growth in the grace of Baptism. )
Who can receive this sacrament?
Only those already baptized can and should receive this sacrament
Who is the minister of Confirmation?
original minister of Confirmation is the bishop./In this way the link between the confirmed and the Church in her apostolic dimension is made manifest.
