Moved to Paris in 1832 where he became a highly regarded teacher, composed music for a Ballet, La Péri, best known for short, attractive piano pieces which were popular in the salons of Paris

1-9 Main theme, C major, consisting of 4 bar phrases. The melody and bass always move in the same rhythm. This together with the soft dynamic level and narrow melodic range creates a feeling of intimacy. The accompaniment, in the inner voice, consists of flowing broken chords in triplets. The second phrase contains a passing hint of D minor in b 5-6 but no modulation
