Conduction Disorders Flashcards
Bradyarrhythmias
Sinus Bradycardia
Sick Sinus Syndrome - TachyBrady Syndrome
Atrioventricular Block - 1st, 2nd type I, II, 3Rd degree AV block
Tachyarrhythmias -SVT
Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial Flutter
AVNRT
AVRT
Tachyarrhythmias - VTach
Ventricular Tachycardia
Ventricular Fibrillation
Torsades de Pointe
Premature Beats
Premature Atrial Contraction
Premature Ventricular Contractions
< 60 bpm
Sinus Bradycardia
Sinus bradycardia is commonly seen in
Young, Athletes, Medication induced, ↑ vagal tone, ↑ intracranial pressure (Widening pulse pressure, irregular respirations, bradycardia), Inferior MI, sleep
Treatment for sinus bradycardia
not necessary - only for severe symptoms
Treatment for severe bradycardia
Atropine
Avoiding AVN blocking agents
Pacemaker
4 types of Sick Sinus Syndrome
Persistent spontaneous sinus bradycardia not caused by medications and inappropriate for the physiologic stimulus
Sinus arrest or sinus exit block
Combinations of SA or AV nodal conduction disturbances
Alterations of paroxysms of rapid regular or irregular atrial tachyarrhythmias and periods of slow atrial or ventricular rates (Tachy-Brady Syndrome)
Chronotropic Incompetence
Causes of Sick Sinus Syndrome
Other tachyarrythmias (Afib, SVT) – causes atrial remodeling fibrosis
Fibrosis (Senile degeneration)
Atrial Infarct (RCA)
Infiltrative heart disease (Sarcoidosis, Amyloidosis)
