Conduction Abnormalities Flashcards

1
Q

What is Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome?

A

Genetic Conduction abnormality

Abnormal conduction pathway allows a reentrant tachycardia pathway to BYPASS AV node conduction pathway

RESULTING IN SVT

Usually in people <30

Q

For Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrom, what does the ECG demonstrate when in sinus rhythm?

A

short PR interval and presence of a delta-wave (seen as a slow rise of the inital upstroke of the QRS)

Q

How do you treat Pre-excited atrial fibrillation?

A

Beta-blockers, amiodarone, or procainamide IV

NO ADENOSINE, DIGOXIN, CCBs–they can enahance retrograde conduction resulting in VFIB
