Conduction Flashcards
1
Q
Heat can be transferred by conduction. How could this occur?
A
The objects must be in contact, and they must be different temperatures.
2
Q
When conduction occurs where does it go from?
A
FROM the hotter object (substance). INTO the colder one.
3
Q
If you put an ice block on metal what will happen?
A
The heat will be conducted into the ice block.
4
Q
How does conduction work?
A
The vibrating particles pass their energy to their neighbouring particles - - thus the heat is conducted.
5
Q
What is conduction?
A
It is a process in which the transfer of heat takes place between objects by direct contact?
6
Q
What is conduction often associated with?
A
Solids.
