What is the role of an assistant coach:
-Assistant coaches work under a head coach
-Their primary role is to ensure that participants, equipment, and
facilities are prepared, organised, and ready for the training
session or competition.
What is working with children check:
-is a look at your criminal history(any charges you have been found guilty of)known as a conviction or sentence.
- the purpose is to ensure children will be safe from physical or sexual harm in your care.
Duty of care:
For example- teachers and students under their supervision, have a responsibility or obligation to care for those I have a duty of care over.

Safety:
Every sport will have its own sport-specific safety requirements, however, there are a
few key elements that are common to most sports.
These include:
-Obeying the rules: tell us what we can and can’t do, a framework for our behaviour
-Use of protective equipment: equipment fits properly
-Hydration: water is essential for our bodily functions

Teaching new skills:
Instruction: verbally explain how to
perform the skill
-Demonstration: show the learner
how to perform the skill
-Applying: allow the learner to try
the skill
-Clarifying: Clarifying the learner’s
understanding of the skill and
instructions. Provide feedback to the
individual or group
Instruction and demonstration:
-Auditory: Learn best through
hearing the information (30%)
-Kinesthetic: Learning best through
doing (5%)
-Visual: Learn best by seeing
the information (65%)
Whole skill:
-simple skill

-eg chest pass or dribbling basketball with one hand

-Part skill (progressive)
-Whole skill
-Whole-part-whole
-breaking a skill into parts or segments and teaching each one separately
Whole skill:
-simple skill
-little to no instruction is needed
-eg chest pass or dribbling basketball with one hand
- suited to more skilled beginners/faster
-negative develop bad technique
Whole-part-whole:
-demonstrate the whole skill, then break it down, practice parts, then whole together.
-coach gives feedback after seeing the whole skill
-participants break it down and practice certain elements
-practice the whole skill again
