Defence Force Discipline Act (1982)
ADF personnel not only subject to Australian Law, but also military law with its own judicial arrangements and punishments.
The Act establishes a legal system for maintenance and enforcement of service discipline.
Operational Service
Face the the possibility of deploying to, or near a war zone.
ADF primary role is to defend Australia and it’s interests.
Military Discipline System
Discipline Officer Scheme is lowest level of action - commanders deal with issue
Summary Authority Trials is next level - commanding officers and superior summary authorities deal with more discipline
Defence Force Magistrate and Court Martial is highest level
Unrestricted Service
All new members must be able to provide US - free to move or be deployed across AUS and overseas.

Service Allowance
To compensate for the unusual strains and working conditions of ADF service given $12 924 each year
Military and Trade Skills
Required to acquire and maintain military skills and professional qualifications required in employment
Military skills
Includes competency with weapons, combat proficiencies, and drill and ceremonial procedures
Initial Minimum Period of Service
Aerospace Engineer - 7 years with ADFA
Postings and Deployments
As an Aeronautical Engineer I can be deployed to any of the RAAF bases in Australia
Medical and Physical Fitness
Must pass medical and physical tests and retain fitness.
To be able to complete arduous IMT and IET
Viral testing
Must test for HIV and Hep B and other viral infections
Dress and Grooming
Must maintain uniform to show involvement in team
Fitness Requirements
RAAF - 4 push ups, 20 sit ups and 6.5 on shuttle test
Regulation of Lifestyle
Non medical use of drugs, consumption of alcohol, unacceptable behaviour and indebtedness

Non medical use is not tolerated
