A

The imperfect

So the only difference between them is that the CONDITIONAL uses the INFINITIVE form of the verb (excluding -re verbs) as teh stem, while the IMPERFECT DROPS them (except for -ir verbs which retain the ‘i’)

Use aider, finir, and vendre to demonstrate

  1. Take the infinitive of the verb as your stem (EXCEPTION drop the ‘e’ for -re verbs)
    e. g. aider, finir, vendr
  2. Add ending that agrees with pronoun
    e. g. J’aiderais, je finirais, je vendrais
