How are CNS tumour classified?
A
High Grade= tumour that grows rapidly
Low Grade= slow growing tumour

List the three most common types of tumours and state whether they are low or high grade

- Glioma (60%): high grade
- Meningioma (20%): low grade
- Pituitary tumour (10%): low grade

List some risk factors for developing a CNS tumour
A
- FHx
- Hx of other cancer
- Irradiation
- Immunosupression
- Hereditary Cancer syndrome (neurofibromatosis, tuberous sclerosis)

Describe some of the presenting symptoms of CNS tumours
A
- Symptoms of Primary (tissue infiltration): these will be focal neuro deficits specific to the location of the tumour
- Symptoms of RICP:
- bilateral headache, bursting, worse on lying down/coughing/sneezing
- Vomiting, reduced consciousness, irritability, visual changes
- Systemic Symtpoms: FLAWS
