Concussion
a brain injury that occurs when the brain is forced to move rapidly within the skull
Cranium
The part of the skull that encloses the brain
Contrecoup
A type of traumatic brain injury that occurs when the brain rebounds and hits the opposite side of the skull after a forceful impact to the head
Amnesia
The loss of memories, including facts, information and experiences
Photophobia
fear of light
Phonophobia
a persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of sound
TInnitus
the perception of sound when there is no external source

Headache: A headache that worsens and doesn’t go away
Confusion: Increased confusion or disorientation

Unusual behavior, increased confusion

a temporary state of being unaware of one’s surroundings and unable to respond to stimuli
Retrograde
moving backward or in the opposite direction of what is norma
Anterograde
a type of memory loss that occurs when you can’t form new memories
Battle Signs
Is a bruise that appears behind the ear after a skull fracture at the base of the skull
Epidural hematoma
An extra-axial collection of blood within the potential space between the outer layer of the dura mater and the inner table of the skull
Glasgow coma scale
a neurological assessment tool that measures a patient’s level of consciousness and the severity of brain injury
