conclusion Flashcards
on the one hand..
it could be argued that FDR’s new deal had not solved americas problems as the economy was still a mess, shown especially through the agricultural industry, as poor farmers still struggled daily due to the great depression, and the economy had not yet gone back to how it was previously.
on the other hand..
social relief had certainly been achieved due to the new deal as people were beginning to work once more and were once again able to afford to live in america, getting on stable footing finally after years of struggle. As well as this, the government had successfully reformed its own role in society providing people like the poor and the disabled with supports that had not been available to the, before, and the government had taken responsibility for saving the state of america for the first time.
judgement
overall, it is clear that the new deal had successfully solved americas problems as despite there still needing to be some work done to get the economy back on track, the people felt trusting of the government and the industries for the first time since before FDR was elected president, and it is clear that a depression to the extent as it was is unlikely to happen again in the near future.
