concepts to state of matter Flashcards
How do mass and weight differ
Mass of an object is always the same weight is not. weight is measured with the scale Mass is measured with balance
The three main states of matter
Solid liquid gas
How are molecules arranged in each state of matter
Solid particles are very close together and can’t be squeezed any closer packed together so tightly each particles stays in the same place and just vibrates in liquid particles are not packed as tightly and move more freely in gas particles are packed together the least increase the pressure can move particles closer together
How do you go between the three states of matter question mark change in state’!
Freezing changes a liquid to a solid melting changes a solid to a liquid boiling changes a liquid to a gas
What are the differences between physical changes and chemical changes
Physical changes have no new substance formed but chemical changes a new substance is formed
Conservation of matter
States that matter can not be created of destroyed
Magnetism
A physical property that can be used to help separate some metal objects the North Pole and South Pole will attract cell phone South Boulevard in North Pole in North Pole will repel
Mixtures versus solution
Mixtures can be separated easy but Solutions are harder to separate and take more effort
