Definition of tone colour
Tone colour is when you can listen to something and recognise the instrument it came from. It is different to pitch. Another word for it is timbre
Definition of dynamics
Dynamics is a key in a piece of music that tells you how to play a particular note. For example, loud is forte (f). Soft is piano (p). Dynamics can also be something like a crescendo (cresc) or a diminuendo (dim) (NOT decrescendo). Crescendo means to gradually getting louder. Diminuendo means gradually getting softer. And finally accents, staccatos and legatos. Accent means to emphasise a note and is presented in music like this ‘
Definition of structure
Structure is the way a piece of music is built. For example the verses, the chorus, instrumental solo, solo, ect.. They can be in different orders.
Definition of pitch
Pitch is the highness or lowness of a sound.
Definition of texture
Texture is how the melodic, rhythmic and harmonic elements of the piece are set up.
