within a state/country, province, city, neighborhood, etc, show more detail than smaller scale
Formal/Uniform Region
area where everyone shares one distinct features (language, crop, climate, etc)
Functional Region
area around a focal point (node), ex a radio station
Vernacular Region
area people believe to b part of their cultural identity (ex the south)

physical characteristics of a place

location relative to other places
Qualitative Research
peoples opinions, thoughts, beliefs

used to definitely prove something (numbers/facts)
Biosphere
4th natural resource system, all living organisms
Spatial interaction
connections, contacts, movement of things between places

how people/goods/info flow from one place to another
Distance Decay
further apart 2 places r, less interaction they have (less important in modern times)
Time Space Compression
feeling that other places r closer bc of tech and transport
Cultural landscapes
physical artifacts that make up landscape, out of interaction between humans and natural environment
(ex: farms,cities, houses)
