A
- Jews were taken to camps by trains, often in overcrowded cattle cars with no food or toilets.
- On arrival, people were selected—some sent to work, others to immediate death (especially in extermination camps)
- Heads were shaved and numbers were tattooed on arms
- Families separated

- Eliminate individuals by murder away from the public and judicial review

A
- Overcrowded in wooden barracks that provided little to no protection from harsh weather conditions
- Many became sick from unsanitary conditions
- Barely any food, often watery soup or a piece of bread
- People with illness were often ignored or killed
