CONCAVE - Rules for images Flashcards
Where is an image formed?
where atleast 2 reflectd rays intersect (or appear to do so)
Why do we use only ‘2’ rays?
bcs they help in finding the image position!
RULE 1
A ray of light parallel to principal axis passes thru its focus
RULE 2
ray passing thru centre of curvature is reflctd back along the same path
Explanation behind rule 2?
bcs it strikes the mirror normaly/ perpendicularlyy! -> angle i = angle r = 0, had 2 arrowheads
rule 3
Ray passing thru the focus become parallel to the principal axis after reflection
RULE 4
Ray which is incident at the pole reflects the ray back making the same angle with the axis, here pole is considered as the normal, IF RAY IS INCIDENT ALONG AXIS IT IS INCIDENT ALONG AXIS
