What is a computer?
A computer is generally considered to be a programmable machine, often electronic. Which takes in data, processes it and outputs the result.
What did Alan Turing do
He invented a machine called the Bombe that could decrypt messages allowing the British to learn many German secrets
What did Sir Tim Berners-Lee (1955 president) do?
He invented the World Wide Web (www)
What did George Boole do? (1815-1864)
He created the Boolean logic
What did Charles Babbage do?
He designed a calculating device called the ‘Difference Engine’. It could calculate and make no mistakes.
Definition of cipher
A cipher is a ‘Secret Message’ often within in code
Definition of decipher
A method to unscramble a cipher so that the secret message can be understood
Definition of encryption
A method used to scramble messages so that if they are intercepted they cannot be read/understood

The information sharing model which sits on the internet ( World Wide Web)
