Dynamic and private ports

A

49,152 - 65,535

19
Q

HIDSs

A

Host-based Intrusion detection systems (IDSs)

Installed on individual servers and workstations.

20
Q

NIDSs

A

Network-based Intrusion detection systems.

Installed on network devices such as routers and firewalls.

21
Q

RAS Authentication

A

CHAP - Challenge Handshake Protocol

MS-CHAPv2 - Microsoft improved CHAP with MS-CHAP and MS-CHAPv2

RADIUS - Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service

TACACS+ - Many Cisco VPN concentrators use as replacement for RADIUS

22
Q

IPSec as a Tunneling Protocol

A

IPSec uses Key Exchange (IKE) over port 500 to authenticate clients. IKE creates security associations for the VPN

IPSec can use Authentication Header (AH) alone - authentication and integrity, or Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) to encrypt the data and provide confidentiality, authentication, and integrity.

23
Q

TFTP

A

Trivial File Transfer Protocol
UDP port 69
Smaller amounts of data
