IT IS DEFINED AS A PROCESS BY WHICH WE ASSIGN AND CONVEY MEANING TO CREATE SHARED UNDERSTANDING.
Communication
is the person who is sending the message. There are two factors that will determine how effective the communicator will be:
*Attitude
*Selection of meaningful symbols
Sender
A communication in writing, in speech, or by signals
Message
can be a verbal or nonverbal reaction or response. It can be external feedback (something we see) or internal feedback (something we cannot see), like self-examination.
Feedback
is simply the person receiving the message, making sense of it, or understanding and translating it into meaning.
Receiver
It is a medium through which a message is transmitted to its intended audience, such as print media or broadcast (electronic) media.
Channel
is the act of writing, typing or printing symbols like letters and numbers to convey information.
Written communication
is the use of language to transfer information through speaking or sign language.
Verbal communication
is the use of body language, gestures and facial expressions to convey information to others. It can be used both intentionally and unintentionally.
Non-verbal communication
is the act of using photographs, art, drawings, sketches, charts and graphs to convey information.
Visual communication
is a collaborative and systematic sharing of ideas and information among 3 to 8 persons in order to reach a consensus or a common solution to a problem, or to obtain facts.
Small-group communication
or two-person communication is the basic form of oral communication.
Dyadic communication
this form of communication may be done through either printed or oral medium. If it is oral, it utilizes the airwaves.
Mass communication
this consists of a speaker who addresses a considerably large audience. It requires thorough preparation on the part of the speaker.
Large-group communication
Effective team leaders communicate clearly. Quality verbal and written communication skills allow leaders to present expectations to team members in a way worker can understand.
A CLEAR COMMUNICATOR
Effective team leaders possess exceptional organizational skills. Organizational skills help team leaders plan objectives and strategies, which allow team members to perform optimally.
STRONG ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
An effective team leader is confident in his abilities, as well as confident in the abilities of his team members.
CONFIDENT IN THE TEAM
A quality team leader is respectful of his team members. A respectful leader empowers employees by encouraging them to offer ideas about decisions that affect them.
RESPECTFUL TO OTHERS
A quality team leader treats team member fairly. He is consistent with rewards and recognition, as well as disciplinary action.
FAIR AND KIND
An effective team leader is honest and open with his team members. Leaders who possess integrity gain the trust of team members because he does what he says he will do and treats others the same way he wants to be treated.
