Advantages of compression moulding?
A
There is little to no waste material after use.
Moulds and machinery are not as expensive as injection moulding

Any disadvantages?
A
A perform is required to correct the size before the process begins
It can really only make simple shapes.

What happens during this process?
A
The mould is closed under high pressure which will allow any excess materials to be squeezed out. The mould remains closed for a period of time to allow all crosses linking to occur.
The mould is then opened and the product is removed. This can be done while they are still hot and the process can start again without the need to cool the mould.
