Q

Settings for consistency compression

A

high threshold
fast attack
slow release

Threshold set to either
just catch the loudest transients
catch many transients for a little bit

Attack is really fast to catch the transient (1ms or faster) (When on mix bus little slower attack)

(Carful with bass and lows in general! avoid cutting too fast before the transient passed)

Release in sync with tempo

How fast notes are usually played? Calculate note duration and set release accordingly

Level match to LUFS

Q

Settings for thickness compression

A

Threshold to catch transients should not be on persistently, we dont want to target the sustain

Attack shall be fast but not immediately
(When on mix bus, little slower)

Release depends on instrument.
With ratio down, gain reduction should be able to return before the next peaks

Make sure no distorion happens

Level match to peaks

Q

Settings for Punchy compression

A

low threshold to target the valleys

attack to let the transient pass

Slow release - as slow as posible to return before the next transient hits.

makeup gain to match LUFS

Q

Settings for Groove Compression

A

Set threshold to capture almost everything

Atatck in grove. check tempo, aim for 32th/64/th notes duration

Rel same as attack

Ratio to liking
