what was the intention behind the comprehensive system?
to support the disadvantage in society i.e. the working class, and offer a one size fits all system
what did the comprehensive system change?
all children would attend the same type (comprehensive) of school

it ensured that all w/c pupils had the same opportunities and they all shared the same curriculum
why were school facilities upgraded?
so new comprehensive could provide a broad curriculum and more sporting/recreational activities
