Q

How is crystallisation process done

A

A solution is warmed in an open container allowing the liquid to evaporate leaving a full of liquid solution,
then the solid will come out of the solution and the crystals will start to grow and then dried and collected

Q

How is filtration process done

A

A mixture of liquid and insoluble substance like sand can be separated by filtration. Both substances are poured into filter funnel with filter paper. The liquid can pass through paper to collect in beaker and substance like sand can be collected in filter funnel

Q

How is simple distillation done

A

A method for separating a solid from a liquid, this works as the liquid has a much lower boiling point than the solid. The liquid evaporates leaving the solid and than it cools

Q

What is fractional distillation

A

A method for separating a liquid from a mixture of two or more liquids. This works as the liquids have different boiling, so when the mixture is heated, one liquid evaporates before the other/others and so on

Q

What is Evaporation process

A

Dissolving salt in water makes a solution. Salt disappears in water. Boil solution, water evaporates leaving salt, collected water vapour can be cooled to form water again.

Q

What is chromatography

A

A method for separating dissolved substance from one another. Is used often for inks, food colourings and plant dyes. It works as some substances dissolve in solvent, better than others so they travel up further up paper.
