A

Compounds are created when two (or more) different elements react together.

How do you write a simple compound?

A

To name a simple compound of a metal and non-metal the endings change.

Example:Sodium+chlorine=Sodium chloride

Write the metal down first and then the non-metals second.

How do you write a complex compound?

A

For compounds that contain more than two elements plus oxygen, you change the ending to ate

For example: Copper+Sulphur+Oxygen= Copper Sulphate.
