What is the rule of thirds (Composition)
This rule says that the point of interest should be placed on one of the line intersections.
What is the golden ratio (Composition)
This rule says that the point of interest should be placed inside the spiral.
What are leading lines (Composition)
The leading lines drive the viewer’s attention to the main subject and adds “movement” to the image.
What are diagonals (Composition)
The elements of an image are organized on a diagonal line. With this it’s possible to create an image with depth and dynamism.
What does figure to ground create (Composition)
Brings depth to your photographs.
What is framing (Composition)
Framing means using elements of a scene to create a frame within your frame.
What is fill the frame (Composition)
This means getting in close to your subject, where it takes up a significant portion of the final image.
What is centre dominant eye (Composition)
This is when you place the dominant subject in the centre of the photo.
What is Symmetry and asymmetry (Composition)
In a symmetrical composition, the two halves of the image are mirror images of each other.
What are patterns and repetition (Composition)
Patterns can be aesthetically pleasing.
What should the viewers eye do when a photo has the golden ratio composition
The viewer’s eye will go straight to the point of interest and follow its natural expansion within the frame.
What’s good about figure to ground composition
It is easier for the viewer to separate elements that contrast one another.
What does Symmetry and asymmetry create
This creates a sense of harmony, aesthetic balance and lacks movement.
