• Be experimental with your use of language
• Be sure of your form–Write to your strengths and employ a form that you are familiar with (consider generic conventions). Take it a step further and attempt to manipulate conventions of your chosen written form.
• Address the prompt/question-Make sure you constantly link the ideas/content within your response back to the key aspects of the question
• Make sure that you use tone, vocabulary, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and paragraphing appropriately for the topic.
• Be original-avoid clichés. Use language in innovative, interesting ways.
• Leave the reader thinking at the end.
What to follow when writing imaginative piece
• Give purpose to the text: why are you writing this text
• What audience: who are you writing this for

Dialogue
• When using dialogue, don’t use short snippets, make every dialogue use have purpose and meaning not to just give generic responses.
Plot
• Start Exposition and introduce what is happening
• Then start with problem
• Have a climax of the situation that reveals more about a character or what they’re trying to fix
• Resolve and end the story relating to the main purpose of the question answered.
What to include
