Magnificat summary
Magnificat is a canticle, which is a song in the bible that is not from one of the poetic books of the bible. After the angel appears to Mary to tell her she will give birth to Jesus, Mary sings “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
Stabat mater summary
Stabat mater is a 13th-century hymn to Mary. It portrays her suffering as Jesus Christ’s mother during his crucifixion. It means: “the sorrowful mother is standing.”
Te Deum
The Te Deum is a hymn of praise. The title comes from the first line, “Thee God, We Praise.” Its traditional use in the office was at matins. It is used in both Roman Catholic and protestant worship.
