Is from a family of musicians; her mother is from a Henson family of Guagua while his father taught him solfeggio and banduria at the age of five. He wrote his first compositions at the age of 8 and when he turned 15, he taught in the barrio schools of San Ildelfonso and San Miguel, Bulacan. He is known for redefining KUNDIMAN and brought the genre to art- song status. He died in 1934 leaving a collection of more than 40 works.
