Whats the use of line
Can be used to communicate messages to the viewer
Used to add style, enhance comprehension, create
forms, and divide space by being a border around other design
elements or divider between them
Types of line
Vertical, horizontal, diagonal, zig zag , curved
Tone
Refers to how light or dark something is, provides contrast and definition
Primary colours
Red, blue , yellow
Secondary colours
Orange, green, purple
Tertiary colours
Colours made by mixing a primary and secondary colour
Monochrome colours
Colours of all the varieties of a single tone
Hue
Describes the actual colour
Tints and shades
Created by adding black or white to a colour to make it lighter or darker
The lighter variations of the colour are called tints and the darker variations are called shades
Complimentary colours
Contrast as one is a warm colour in the other is a cool colour
Opposite each other on the colour wheel
Used to make something stand out
Analogous
colours that are close to each other on the colour
wheel are said to be in ‘Harmony’ – yellow/green or
pink/purple
Also, colours derived from the same Hue work well
Discords
Discordant colours are colour combinations that contrast, clash, or “fight” rather
than harmonize.
Colour discord can make the viewer visually uncomfortable

Colour saturation
purity and intensity of a colour as displayed in an image.
The higher the saturation of a colour, the more vivid and intense it is.
Typeface
The style of text that you can use, for example: Times New Roman, Ariel, Comic
Sans.
Font
A specific letter type consisting of upper and lower case
Times New Roman can be used in regular, italic, bold, condensed
Serif
• Baseline. The baseline is the imaginary horizontal
line on which most characters sit.
