What are the levels of Postpartum hemorrhage?

A
  1. [Compensated] 500-1000ml (10-15%): minimal
  2. [Mild] 1000-1500ml (215-25%): anxiety, diaphoresis, cool arteries, delayed cap refill
  3. [Moderate] 1500-2000ml (25-35%): high HR, high RR, postural hypotension, oliguria
  4. [Severe] 2000-3000ml (35-45%): hypotension, agitation/confusion, hemodynamic, instability

A
  • Temp => 38 on any 2 of the first 10 days after birth, after the first 24hours
  • Temp >= 38 in the first 24 hours is a parameter for early infection = pre-existing infection
  • Infections r/t incision, clots, or breast will develop 4 days after birth
