Complex Genetics Flashcards
Blood type A+ has what antigens and antibodies?
A antigens and B antibodies
Blood type AB has what antigens?
A & B
What is co dominance? Give an example.
Both alleles are dominant for a trait
Red and white make pink, see images
What is incomplete dominance? Give an example.
One allele is not completely dominant over another allele for a trait
(Red and white speckle, see images)
What is polygenic inheritance? Give an example.
Traits based on many genes i.e. hair color, skin color, eye color, etc.
What is a genotype?
You alleles
What is a phenotype?
Your physical traits
What is an allele?
A copy of a chromosome that you inherit from your mother or father
What is agglunation?
When your blood clumps
If blood agglutinates for RH and B, what blood type is it?
A+ or O+
What is the universal doner?
O-
What is the universal receiver?
AB+
What happens is someone who is RH+ receives RH- blood?
Nothing. The positive blood accepts the negative blood
What happens if someone who is RH- receives RH+ blood?
The negative blood rejects the positive blood
What are antigens?
Antigens are surface proteins
