What complaint legislation affects doctors and how is it dealt with?

Patients Rights Act
- any complaint is dealt with efficiently and properly investigated
- know the outcome
- can the complaint to ombudsman if dissatisfied
- can make claim for judicial review
- right to compensation
Scottish complaints procedure: complaint officer has 5 days to decide where it can be dealt with informally, if formal must acknowledge in 3 days, decide response, give full response in 20 days, patient can respond if dissatisfied etc, must comply with patient rights act
