Directions for going from Supine to EOB.
A
- Raise bed.
- Put shoes on.
- Bring wheelchair to table, take off footrests. LOCK THE WHEELCHAIR.
- Help patient bend knee.
- Help patient reach arm across to bedrail.
- Pull patient to her side while supporting.
- Drop legs off of table.
- Instruct patient to try and push off table with arm while assisting at shoulders to get to EOB.
- Instruct patient to stabilize with their arms as much as possible.
- Lower table to setup for sit to stand.
- PUT GAIT BELT ON.

Directions for going from EOB to WC.
A
- Slide patient to edge.
- Get feet underneath patient as much as possible.
- Bear hug patient and grab onto gait belt.
- Instruct them to push off with arms until standing.
- Block knees while getting patient up.
- Tell the patient to back up until they feel the back of their leg hit the wheelchair.
- Ask them to reach back and grab the armrests on the WC.
- Lower patient down slowly while instructing them to bend at the waist.
- Reapply footrests to WC.
- Unlock brakes.

Directions for going from WC to walker and back to WC.
A
- Position patient with walker in front of them.
- REAPPLY LOCK/BRAKES.
- Take off footrests when ready to walk.
- Adjust height of walker.
- Have patient sit up.
- Scoot patient to edge of WC.
- While blocking the walker, instruct patient to put one hand on the walker and keep one on the armrest.
- Ask them to stand while supporting at gait belt.
- Readjust gait belt when standing.
- Tell them to walk to the table and back, having them turn towards you.
- Have them back into the WC and reach back with one hand to the WC.

Total Hip Precautions for a Posterior Surgical Approach:
A
- No flexion past 90 degrees
- No adduction past midline (crossing legs)
- No hip rotation
(Typically no WB restrictions.)

Spinal Precautions:
A
B- No bending (excessive flexion)
L- No lifting (>10 lbs)
T- No twisting (log rolling to get in/out of bed)
(Typically no WB restrictions.)

Sternal Precautions:
A
- No UE pushing/pulling
- No UE flexion past 90 degrees flexion
- No UE lifting (>10lbs)
- Driving generally restricted.
(UEs are essentially NWB.)
